June 7th , 2010

Well, this is probably the last time I will email on Monday. Remember, next Wednesday will be when I email for the last time. but I probably won't have much to say, and I will need to pack a lot on that day.

I love this work. I was worried with the final weeks and all the walking I was going to be doing that I would be getting pretty worn out and be struggling to keep going, but the Lord has been blessing me and I am as excited as ever and motivated to finish strong to the end. Sometimes I don't know where the strength to keep going comes from, but it comes and I just keep going. I've definitely been getting a lot of exercise.

We have an investigator getting baptized next week. He is doing very well. Our only worry is with his retention of information. He seems to struggle to remember what he is taught sometimes but he has felt the spirit and loves church. He is a great guy, and I'm excited to see him baptized before I leave.

It was awesome to read letters and How important it is for the ward to be involved with missionary work. There is only so much we can do, and the ward is SO important to the success and continued progression of new converts. Baptism is just the first step in the process of receiving Eternal life. We must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ. It can be very hard for new converts to do that without support from the wards. I am very excited that my mission doesn't end here, but I now have the opportunity to be a member missionary.

I feel like 2 years later, I have finally begun to tap a little bit into how to do missionary work. it seems like each phase of my mission I understand more and more how to do missionary work, but now I am so grateful for all I have learned, but I have many wonderful days left of work. I have an awesome young companion, and he has a great desire as well which makes me want to do better.

Here is a humorous story for you. We have a less active lady in the ward here who calls around pretty much the whole ward over and over all day, every day. When she isn't calling people, she cruises around on her little motor chair because she can't walk well. Well she always calls us and leaves us funny messages about random stuff. Now the new apartments we moved into are one building over, from where she lives. So we were walking to a baptism yesterday, when here she comes and starts trying to tell us a story. We were able to talked for a minute, and then we told her we were in a hurry to make it to a baptism, so she said oh alright. Then she tried to explain to us about some sort of short cut. However it didn't really make much sense so we just kept walking, and pretty soon here she comes cruising behind us in her chair and drove right in front of us all the way to the church, crossing the roads and everything, and went right on to the baptism stopping to tell us things periodically. It was just a very funny situation because she just kind of followed us around. The strange experiences of a missionary.

This is the work of the Lord. I know that is true. It is through our Savior Jesus Christ that Salvation is possible. I know Joseph Smith was a Prophet. I know the Book of Mormon is true. I know the Lord loves us and speaks to us today, and the Holy Ghost is a great gift from our Father in Heaven that allows us to be always guided and taught by a divine being, Constant companionship and guidance from the Godhead.
